Welcome to the The Massachusetts Indigency Assistant.
Indigency is a legal term used to describe a situation in which a person falls below a certain income level or cannot afford basic living needs, such as food and clothing. If you are indigent, the court may waive certain legal fees and costs. The Affidavit of Indigency form is used by the court to determine whether someone is indigent.
The Massachusetts Indigency Assistant provides information on indigency and guides you through filling out the Affidavit of Indigency. This interview should take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. At any time during the interview, you can save your answers and return later to finish the interview.
When you complete this interview, you will be able to download a partially completed Affidavit of Indigency.
